Pâté is a majestically dark story about an aristocratic family struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. Amongst a bleak landscape of desolation, two young children, Otto and his sister Vera, hunt daily for food. Meanwhile at home in an abandoned ship, their delusional Mother pitifully clings to the faded glory of their former lives. When the sublimely malevolent Mister Griswald, the only man to survive the apocalypse, unexpectedly drops in for dinner, he sets in motion the final act - revealing the shocking secret of their suvival.
The film's uniquely visual style is flavored with grotesque humor amongst the backdrop of lavish colors and textures. A modern Grimm's fairy tale that quickly descends into a surreal nightmare. |
Pâté is Agnieszka Wojtowicz-Vosloo's debut short film. She has just completed her first feature length screenplay Dreaming of Red Fish which will be her next project.
