At the age of 23, Cianfrance directed, co-wrote, photographed, and co-edited his first feature, Brother Tied. The movie premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and traveled to over 30 festivals worldwide, winning six international awards, including "The Orson Welles First Feature Award" at Huntington, the "Ecumenical Jury Award At Mannheim/Heidelberg", and the "Grand Jury Prize" at Florida. He then made a series of theatrical and televised documentaries on ecclectic subjects, such as vietnam veteran biker gangs, hip hop legends and crime scene photographers. He is currently in pre-production, helming Fountainhead Films' second feature - Blue Valentine.
